Our team at Mogalakwena Mine was awarded a safety award in 2021 for running injury free for more 10 years.The wellbeing of our people is key to our success. For this reason, PlatiStone has a comprehensive health and safety programme, supported by experienced medical practitioners.

Our Health & Safety Policy

PlatiStone believes that Zero Harm is possible. This is our primary goal in all operations.
PlatiStone aims to:

  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment, ensuring that hazards are systematically identified and timeously addressed;
  • Provide safety and fire prevention training to all staff;
  • Comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and the Amended Mine Health and Safety Act of 2008;
  • Take a proactive stance on environmental matters; and
  • Ensure that contractors undertake their duties in a safe and responsible manner.

Safe Standards

Management requires all staff to adhere to safe work standards and procedures, and to:

  • Identify, eliminate, or control all potentially unsafe acts and conditions;
  • Operate and use equipment and vehicles in such a way that their own and others’ safety is ensured;
  • Maintain and use safety equipment where prescribed or where necessary; and
  • Adhere to all legal and all other regulations relating to health and safety.
