Honouring our social responsibility:

We believe in having a positive impact on our society, and as such, we actively support the communities in which we operate. We source our labour from the local communities, it is PlatiStone policy that a minimum of 70% of our employees at each operation should be recruited from surrounding local communities and we support education initiatives to develop the skills we need.

We recognise we have a moral responsibility to help the local communities in which we operate grow and thrive.

Our current Social Responsibility initiatives include:

• Donations to community-based development initiatives located close to our operations.
• Partnerships with local communities in developing community-based infrastructure.
• Fund-raising initiatives for local charity organisations.
• Funding skills’ development programmes for the youth in our communities.

Our relationship with the Mapela community in Mogalakwena has grown to the extent that we partner with the community on a number of projects. More than 90% of our workforce at Mogalakwena and Brits come from the local communities, and we continue to participate in CSI projects with employees and their families.

Similar models of community partnership have been used to partner with the community in which our Poli Hali operation is situated. Our Poli Hali project in Lesotho voluntarily established a community empowerment trust.
